PEM2i, which is based in the Cantal, aims to open up to other regional, national and international partners.

In the vast field of industrial microbiology and fermentation, it is aligned with current research, development and innovation priorities (fermentation, innovative food for better health), as demonstrated by the major national GDFF programme ‘Ferments of the future Grand Challenge’ and the European COST PIMENTO action (CA20128): COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) called PIMENTO (for ‘Promoting Innovation of ferMENTed fOods’).

COST PIMENTO

The main objective of COST PIMENTO is to federate and structure the scientific and socio-economic communities working on fermented foods, by developing a multi-actors vision with a transdisciplinary approach. Christophe Chassard, Director of the UMRF, is leading this organisation, providing PEM2i with this international link.

GDFF : Grand défi Ferments du Futur : plateforme de recherche et d’innovation unique en Europe associant les entreprises alimentaires françaises réunies au sein de l’ANIA et la recherche académique d’excellence pilotée par INRAE.

« Ferments of the future Grand Challenge »

The GDFF is a research and innovation platform unique in Europe, bringing together French food companies belonging to the ANIA and leading academic research led by INRAE. Three PEM2i companies have already joined GDFF.  The PEM2i is fully in line with GDFF's ambitions, which are to promote natural fermentation techniques to accelerate the agricultural and food revolution in the service of healthy, sustainable and traceable food. The construction of joint projects between the PEM2i and GDFF is a topical issue, and one that all the partners are in favour of.
